10 ejemplos de used to y usually

Como expliqué en la introducción al tema, used to + infinitive refiere a un estado o un hábito en el pasado. No se usa para hablar del presente!

Past habits or states:

She used to have a boyfriend, but now she’s single..

He used to go to a lot of concerts, but now he prefers going to clubs.

There used to be a lot of historic buildings here, but the’ve been knocked down.

I used to go to the gym twice a week, but now I just go running.

Los diccionarios dicen que used to = solía. Y a veces es verdad. Pero used to también equivale al pretérito imperfecto que habla de hábitos pasados.

Para hablar de algo que suele pasar en el presente, se usa usually + present simple.

Present habits:

He usually goes to the cinema on Saturdays.

I usually eat lunch at my mother’s house on Sundays.

Where do you usually spend your summer holidays?

Para ver bien la diferencia, aquí hay más ejemplos que combinan used to y usually.

Pasado y presente:

Barbara used to drink more rum, but now she usually just drinks wine.

They used to speak more Spanish together, but now they usually speak English.

Enjoy!
