Listening en inglés: Lily’s Story
Hello everyone,
My name is Lily Wong, you can just call me Lily. I’m from Taiwan. I’m an English teacher and also a podcaster like Daniel. I’m glad to be invited to talk about myself here on Daniel’s podcast.
I’m 37 years old and I’m divorced. I have no kids and have been single for quite a while!
I think being single is amazing and I can do whatever I want. I was able to travel around the world, live and work in 40 different countries in the last 5 years after I left my husband who had cheated on me.
Long story short, it was the worst thing that had ever happened to me, but also the best thing. Now I own my business and have become financially independent which I think is very important for women.
I am really grateful that I am able to speak English fluently. It has opened the door to many opportunities!
Three years ago, I got an entrepreneur visa in Spain when I didn’t even know how to speak Spanish.
I lived in Barcelona and that was also why I got to know Daniel and we became friends. Also I’m really happy to help Daniel to become a podcaster as well. Isn’t he great? The world really needs more amazing teachers like Daniel!
Anyway, I think the secret to learning English is to never give up on improving yourself little by little each day.
A lot of people think they have to move to an English speaking country in order to learn English.
I disagree.
However, if you plan a trip to an English speaking country for a couple of weeks or even a couple of days, it will help you understand the culture and what you need to work on as well as give you huge motive to keep learning the language.
I didn’t start speaking English until I was 20 years old. However, I really enjoy speaking the language. It’s a very different language from Mandarin actually.
So if I can do it, you can do it too, since there are more similarities between Spanish and English.
I hope it helps, and if you want to know more of my stories and say hi to me, you can follow me on Instagram at flywithlily.
Bye for now!
