Recibo muchas preguntas y comentarios sobre mi vida “fuera de internet”. Hoy, voy a contar todo sobre mi barba.
Suena un poco a película de Almodovar… pero claro, él no vive en Tetuán ni tiene mi fantástica barba roja.
Así tiene que hacer películas con Penelope Cruz y estas cosas.
(La verdad es que soy fan de Almodovar, desde que tuve un profesor madrileño en la universidad.)
Bueno, al tema de hoy.
Todo sobre mi barba
Reinaldo en Venezuela pregunta lo siguiente:
¿No puedes darnos tips para aprender a tener una barba como la tuya? Porque ya he aprendido suficiente inglés! Ahora quiero aprender a tener una barba!! Que usas? Que comes? Que haces? God!!!!!!!!!!! I want a beard like yours!!!!

Pero primero, si no te interesa saber de mi barba, quizá si te interesa saber la pronunciación de bird, beard, bear, beer etc.
Ahora bien, ¿qué hago para mantener esta barba?

Texto: La historia de mi barba
The prestigious website beards.org says the following:
“Growing a beard requires a commitment. The experience can even be a test of character as well as a surprising process of self-discovery. Do you have what it takes?”
Well, I’m just a humble language blogger, but I disagree with beards.org.
The main reason I have a beard is because I’m lazy. I hate shaving. I find the whole experience of shaving to be annoying and painful. So I don’t do it.
The other reason is that I’m not the kind of guy who spends all day looking at himself in the mirror.
I know there are men who do this. But not me.
Therefore, most of the time, I’m not thinking about it. Of course, since I’ve grown my beard, people spend a lot more time looking at me when I’m walking around the city. But that’s fine with me.
Now, I go to a barber and hairstylist just down the street from my house. It’s called Escarcha Peluqueros, and the hairstylist’s name is Andrea. She’s very nice, and she does a good job with my beard so I don’t have to do anything.
Often, when I go in for my appointment with Andrea, there’s a Spanish guy there who says something like “¡Ojalá tuviera yo una barba como la tuya!”
Anyway, I suspect that a lot of it is genetic. My ancestors were Vikings, and Vikings are known for having red beards.
About my diet, I eat a lot of meat, fish and vegetables. I try to eat things that are as natural as possible, and I try to get enough protein.
I drink coffee or tea every morning, and a glass or two of red wine every night with dinner. Coffee, tea and wine all have important antioxidants, but they probably don’t affect my beard.

Aquí tienes algunas palabras del texto, pero en general el vocabulario de este texto no es muy difícil.
commitment = compromiso
disagree = discrepar, no estar de acuerdo. Más en cómo usar agree y disagree.
lazy = perezoso
shaving = afeitarse (en infinitivo, shave)
annoying = irritante, molesto. más sobre este tipo de adjetivo en el artículo sobre bored y boring.
painful = doloroso. Más sobre los adjetivos con ful y less aquí.
mirror = espejo
appointment = cita (no una cita romántica, sino con el médico, el dentista, etc)
hairstylist = peluquero / peluquera. Más trabajos y profesiones aquí.
En fin…
De lo que he leído en internet sobre cómo cultivar una barba (me ha entrado curiosidad) dicen que a lo mejor comer más proteína te ayuda. El pelo está hecho de un tipo de proteína, al final.
